This mammoth volume is a work of art! Giving the real, unchanged history of what happened during the dark ages and the protestant reformation, Dr. Wylie does not confine himself to only the religious events that took place--for that would be impossible. He reveals how the political events affected the reformation and vice versa in a fascinating account that is difficult to stop reading. This work was referenced by the author of The Great Controversy in historical section because of its accuracy. Although Dr. Wylie had not received all the truth that has been revealed in the ongoing reformation and one needs to bear that in mind when reading his writings, it still provides a most necessary education that helps us to understand what has happened--and thereby, what will happen. "The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun" (Eccl. 1:9) This makes a tremendous homeschool history textbook for the middle ages time period.
